Arequipa, Peru is the second largest city in Peru, and is a Sister City of Charlotte, North Carolina. The Sister Cities organization provided the initial contribution to get the project started and we took it from there, creating multimedia documentary stories about life in this slightly chaotic, beautiful and generally fascinating city. The UNC Journalism School worked with Peruvian Catholica University Journalism students to complete this project in the fall of 2006.

Inspired by the enormous blue sky of the stark landscape, I created the visual design scheme for the site and collaborated with the producers on the User Interface. I also worked on one of the stories, a video called "Serving Alto Cayma," about a Catholic Parish that helps the extremely poor people who live in the Alto Cayma district of the city. Photography Director, Ray M. Jones, built a photo slideshow of the field work in Peru. You can see the behind the scenes photos here.
