Open Society Institute's Public Health Program does amazing work around the world raising awareness about a variety of important issues. For this project, they had commissioned Rob Rosenthal to create a beautiful audio piece from the voices of a group of Sex Workers who live in Africa. They provided me with a few portrait photos which I repainted to create the look of the visual piece. I then continued to paint all the environments and once we had all the scenes and timing right, I hand painted all the text. This project was designed to spark conversation about a human rights issue for a group of marginalized people who would prefer to be granted equal rights, not be rescued from their occupation. I worked with the extremely talented Pamela Chen and Paul Silva, who brought me in for this project. |
