Art Director and Flash Production

In 2008 the Open Society Institute chose to make a digital holiday card instead of the usual print mailings. After a few discussions, we settled on the concept of using multimedia to listen to people from all over the world say “Peace on Earth,” while showing what the words look like and revealing a beautiful photo. There are two components to the piece, the “map to photo reveal” and the “interactive text” section. A global audience was targeted so Flash 7 was necessary and bandwidth needed to be kept to a minimum. The overall visual goal was to create a beautiful, elegant piece that was easy and even fun to use. Original music was created by a producer at OSI.

One user felt compelled to send comments:

“I never thought an e-card could make me cry, but it did. It's also the only card I feel I can send and not feel guilty about forgoing stamps and envelopes.”
