The Atacama is a large region in northern Chile that contains the driest deserts in the world; there are parts of this desert with no recorded rainfall ever. The UNC Journalism School collaborated with 3 Chilean Universities to complete this documentary project in the summer of 2006. I designed the site and coached students on video storytelling for the project. Designing the site, I worked to combine the natural textures and colors found in the geographical wonders of the area with a clean visual treatment. With my goal being to let beautiful imagery drive the look of the site, I gave photos a lot of real estate to let them stand strong. We built a flickr site to show the behind the scenes photos of working and goofing around. You can see it here. |
